What Would We Do Without Them? Has something exciting happened to you and you've just had to call your friend? A true friend shares your happiness with you. They know what is important to you and they know how to celebrate triumphs. Have teachers, books, and grades ever gotten you down so low that you never thought you would get back up? All of us experience the pressure of school, just having someone to lean on helps. People are one of the main things that make Tam so special, and having friends holds everyone together. Whether it's the teacher-to- teacher, student-to-student, or teacher-to-student relationship, they all help us keep our sanity. What would we do without them? 27

friends: They pick us up when we're down, they celebrate special moments with us, and they help us cope with school. Friendship is a special part of Tam. Have you ever started the day out on the wrong foot, arrived at school depressed and had your friends revive you? They have a way of making the world seem like a big joke. When parents aren't able to understand teenage problems, friends are. They know what you're going through because they have often been there before.

Student Support In a system of education so oriented towards basic learning and discipline, it is refreshing to know that there is still a place where you can just sit down and talk about your problems without worrying about parents or teachers hearing about it. The name of this place is Full Circle, a student support service at Tam directed by former teacher Jimmy Brown. Besides being director, Jimmy Brown helps with homework, gets tutors, rearranges schedules, and helps with finding appropriate schooling after high school. The vocational side is handled by Bill Arthur. He helps with finding work, getting through job interviews, and making connections in the working world. The student counseling is done by Golda Michelson and Janet Jacobsen. They deal with everything from sexual relationships and divorced parents to transfer students who are lost in a new environment. They stress that no matter how large or small the problem, students shouldn't be afraid to just walk in and start talking. Services to f
