ls this Thursday? Then the school paper is out today! and there is a mad scramble for-the T'S COLUMN!! After thoroughly digesting this, the reader turns to the other features of the school page-the editorials, the grade news, the high school news, Pop- ping the Question, sports news, and a feature story. The news staff has been fortunate this year to have such capable editorial writers. feature story composer, sports analist, and an all-round staff which has shown some outstanding contributions to the field of journalism. The staff is composed of twelve seniors, three juniors, and one sophomore. As is customary the majority of the staff are seniors: however, a few underclassmen are put on so that they can have the experience of carrying on the work when the seniors are gone. Miss Stevens was the faculty advisor. Declamatory work has been carried out quite extensively in Tama High School for a number of years. When the contest first started, there were three entries in the oratori- cal division, five in the dramatic, and five in the humorous: from these, nine contestants were chosen to compete in the home contest. Those who received firsts in the home contest were Bill Platt, oratorical: Alice Overturf, dramatic: and Frances Chantland, hu- morous. In the State Preliminary Contest held in Tama, these same three students again received first division ratings. However, at the Sub-district Contest held at Traer. Frances received a second rating while Alice received a third. Bill was not required to compete in this contest. The District Contest was held in Tama and Bill was victori- ous: the State Contest was next in line and Bill received a second division rating which is high in a state contest. To these students goes appreciation for all the talent and ability they've shown plus the credit due Miss Lockwood for her capability in teaching them.
