These stack gas snipes , as they are sometimes called, are responsible for keeping TALUGA's four boilers in top operating condition and providing a constant source of power to the ship's main engines, turbo-generators, and auxiliary machinery. One of this division's main functions is to maintain a constant state of readiness in all the ship's deck winches, anchor windlass, steering engines, boats' engines, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and other auxiliary machinery.
