ff P1109 I I f If J 1 As I cut the throttle of my jet propelled llght cabln plane and cxrcled over Table Rock and Mt Wagner I was amazed at the way 20 years could change the Rogue River valley When I gradu- ated from hlgh school back ln 49 Talent was the smallest town between slsklyou Sumrnitanl Crater Lake Now lt had grown to such a monstroslw that It completely engulfed Medford and Ashland This incredible growth was due mostly to the establishment of Zlckefoose S Super Mouse Trap Factory located on the former site of Talent High School After circling the port a few tlmes I put the plane down and genthr braked it as l taxled towld the hangar The airport was a spectacular thing because it was a hub of the west coast taking all incoming and outgoing fl.lghts thru United states and around e wor d when the plane carre to a stop a large muscular man met me and seemed rather excited as lf something were wrong room for Wilson and tus boys they re due anytime now Wilson I queried Who s he? You meanyou haven t heard of Major Wllson? I-le s the best- known pilot in Oregon He graduated from the little Talent School back ln 49 ln the same class I did. That s odd I replied I graduated with that same class Surely'you couldn t be talking about the George Wilson that I once knew Yes that s he and in case you haven t recognized me I m Jack Mllhoan and you re- Im Charles Zlckefoose At the present Im nmnlng the mouse trap factory about twenw miles from here on the other side of town It seems the last time I saw you you were about 5 'I' and weighed 150 lbs Now you must be at least 6 4 and over 250 lbs how come the change? He curtLv replied I qult smoklng Deciding to change the subject I asked lf he knew where some of the other class members were Just as he was about to reply a thunderous roar was heard and three huge jet planes descended and pulled up ln front of us I Q Before either of us could say anything more there stoo Major George Wilson accompanied lu Captains Don Mlllage an John York I noticed that both Don and John had put on nigh due largely to age and I found that neither were married Jack then took the four of us ln to see Joan Davis Mllhoan a secretary at Talent Munlclpal A1rD0rt. After leaving them I immediately took off to see the rest o the ctw While flying over the eastem section of tln melzopolls. I saw a green strip of land below me and on the roof of a barn w a sign which read Garrett and Williams Lazy Daz! Daily Th nnaaes sounded famlliar so I set the cabln cmlser down to lnvestl I was immediately met by a tall sklnny man with a s ride When I stepped from the plane a wave of recognition swep overhls bearded face and he dropped hlsgun and shook hands wl me mumbling Zeke Zeke Zeke It was then I knew him lt was very modern dalry to show me hls equipment Inside the barn I sa a blg guy whom I recognized as Charles Garrett. I soon learn that he dld the bookkeeping while Clyde did the manual labor Being near dinner time Clyde decided to take the evenlng off and let the wife and kids do the chores He sald he knew a very good place to eat at the edge of the city We jumped into hls 1969 Cadillac and were off Clyde noticed his gas tank was low so we pulled up to a scvlce station When he pushed the button that rolled down the window the famlllar face of Joe Fenton appeared and behind hlm at another pump was the famous motorqcle rlder Bradlq Wood When we tlnlshed talking over old times we were agaln away This time we stopped at a swank cafe outlined ln orange and black We were promptly ushered into the cafe by two beautl' ful girls even though tha were 48 These of course were Margaret Egan and Frances Sullivan Before I had recovered from this shock the owners of the establishment met us face to face and we then saw Otto and Betv King with their flve children all waiters and waitresses We then decided to make an evening of it and contacted all the rest for a banquet on the house B7 Charles Zickefoose SS Wlll I Bradley Wood will my ablllw to sit a pretty saddle to Tom Goddard I Margaret Egan will my ablllty to write Egan' ln shorthand to Irene Perdue I Clyde Williams will my Ingllsh ability to Ethel Trimble I Ganige Wilson will my dlsablllty' to write ll will to amone who wan t I Joan Davis will my ablllw to waste time to Carl Cowdrq I, Jack Mllhoan, will my ablllq to drive 'A Fords to Mrs. Alberdlng.
