Since it would perhaps be only wishful thinking to wish every student at Talbot County High School supreme happiness and success, may I hope that there will always be a sincere desire in your hearts to strive for the one thing that God and Mankind loves best in an in- dividual; A fine clean character. I believe character is the biggest word in our Language, because character is the biggest thing in our lives. With it everything is possible, without it everything is lost. Character is the real you, because you alone build it and you alone control it Do not think anything profitable to you which compels you, to lose your self-respect, to hate any man, to suspect, to curse, to act the hypocrite, to desire anything that needs walls and curtains about it. Let's not lose sight of the fact that character is die real you that is going to live forever. Sincerely,
”

Dear Seniors of 1954, Volumes could be written on I never stopped to think. Excuses for reverses in business, bad health, accidents, and crimes have been expressed in such words as these, I did it without thinking, or If I had stopped to think I know it would not have hap- pened. Therefore, I urge you to continue to devel- op the power of progressive, wise, and unbiased thinking, for the great thinkers of the world are the real saviors of humanity. It is your duty to help think this world out of hatred and war, so, go forth from Talbot County High School determined to use your educational advan- tages towards making yourselves better men and bener women, more useful citizens, greater thinkers. If you do this you will surely become truer and more loyal Americans. My best wishes shall always go with you. Sincerely, Mrs. G. L. Carter
