1. These four students, from left to right Jim Belanger, Julie Kramer, Teri Zom and Cory Hilby left Feb. 8th on the second successful exchange program between THS and Moerike Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg, West Germany. The four attended school for 3 months in the Renton-sized town about 11 kilometers out-side of Stuttgart. Julie and Cory stayed in Ludwigsburg, Jim and Teri lived in the surrounding area. The students returned the first week in May and had three weeks to get ready for the arrival of their exchange partners, who will also be having a three month stay here. Jim’s partner is Martin Geugis, Julie’s is Barbara Benke, Teri’s is Fredy Keuster, and Cory’s is Sabine Hausser. On last years exchange program 8 students arrived on June 14th ‘75 for their 3 month stay. Five of them attended school here for the first two weeks of this year. They were, (2.) Peter Montanus, who stayed with Scott Treick and Manfred Gapp who stayed with Evan Morris. (3.) Uwe Supfle stayed with Cheryl Elder. (4.) Thomas Heck stayed with April Preedy. (5.) SEMIS CLUB German Club had a most successful year. With over 65 members the club had a lot of willing people to help out with it’s numerous activities, including two trips to Leavenworth, one with the whole club and one with Herr Rohm and five other members to attend the Washington conference for the National Organization of German Students. Other activities were selling doughnuts at K-Mart, a pancake breakfast, a skating night in Bellevue, and an Olympic sports competition. They also put on a great initiation for new members with all kinds of German sausages, cheeses and breads. Another German Club related activity was a trip made by six students from Tahoma and two from Renton. These eight students will tour Europe with Herr Rohm for one month during the summer. They plan to visit Holland, East and West Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and France in a V.W. bus.
