The big challenge for students and teachers in the attainment of a suc-cessful educational program is the cultivation of an independent study atmosphere. Too much instruction both in die past and currently involves acquiring of knowledge in a restricted atmosphere. Our English honors and independent study programs represent attempts to provide for a less restrictive program. In die future, we hope to pro-vide more and more freedom for diose students who can use this freedom but still not abuse it. Many of our students will enter college following high school graduation while others will seek employment or enter the armed services. Regardless, my advice to you is to learn two most important diings, namely proper budgeting of your time and the development of good study habits. My best wishes to the graduating seniors of Tahoma High School. lyman D. stamper May your lives be most successful. Superintendent of Schools The students of today, the citizens of tomorrow, are faced with great responsibilities, which can only be met adequately with a good education. The paramount objective of each of you during the three short years of high school should be to obtain the best education possible within your individual limits. The competitive society in which we live demands more and better production from those who abandon the role of high school students each year and the students of Tahoma can and should be proud to stand among all others. The preparation available to you by competent teachers, understanding administrators, and School Board members will give insight into the problems of the world and help maintain our freedom. President Johnson once said, Freedom is fragile if the citizens are ignorant, and we at Tahoma know our citizens will not allow freedom to be fragile. Principal CHARLES C. CAMPBELL Principal
