Dedication The 1966 Annual is dedicated to our friend, counselor, and basketball coach, Mr. Janies “Pete” Ryan. Pete graduated from Chelan High where he was nominated as an all-state guard in basketball. At Eastern Washington College he placed on a near-championship wrestling team. After three years at Eastern, he was called in the Army where he served in Korea for 13 months. Returning to Eastern Washington College he graduated, taught at Grand Coulee High School, and then came to Tahoma in 1960. Mr. Ryan has never failed to help a one of us. This Annual is respectfully dedicated, then, to Mr. Ryan.

FOOTBALL, TOLO, SENIOR PLAY... O world, I cannot hold thee close enough! Thy winds, thy wide gray skies! Thy mists, that roll and rise! Thy woods, this autumn day, that ache and sag And all but cry with color. Edna St. V. Millay 5

Fr inciiD£tl This year the patrons of the TaHoMa School District overwhelmingly supported a bond issue to provide improved education facilities at TaHoMa High School. Many features of our old high school building characterize an era when students could leave school with a limited educational background and still have reasonable expectations of a lifetime to be spend in continuous, gainful, and rewarding employment. Those days are gone forever. On the contrary, today’s students face an exploding technology and a resulting decline in the number of unskilled jobs that are available. All newly created jobs today have higher educational requirements than ever before. Thus the patrons in our community have responded to the need for improved facilities and expanding enrollments. Perhaps this is one way they join me in congratulating the graduating class of 1966. MR. ALBERT F. WEDEKIND Principal S-u.r5erinteiicieiit A wise budgeting of your time, enabling you to make the most effective use of it, represents, in my opinion, the most important requirement for success. Provide time for reading, for study, and recreation and then assume the responsibility for meeting the budget goals set for yourself. Recognizing that additional educational training is absolutely necessary beyond high school to successfully compete in our ever-increasing and complex society, I suggest that students take inventory of their capabilities, and using this information, secure vocational or college training which will enable them to become happy and successful citizens of tomorrow. My most sincere congratulations to the members of the Tahoma High School graduating class of 1966. MR. LYMAN D. STAMPER Superintendent 7
