Marian Weide Principal Hie scientific knowledge of the high school student of 1965 will be almost completely obsolete by 1975• In ten years three-fourths of the workers will be making products not yet developed. Seventy percent of the scientists ever known since the beginning of mankind will be alive and working in the next decade. This overwhelming advancement of scientific knowledge will affect each student's ability to hold a job, to understand his environment, to prepare his children for the future. Tour continuing educational progress is now more important than ever. Babe Ruth often said, I always try to follow through. Stopping on third base adds no more to the score than striking out. Work hard, be courageous, and do not stop on third base. 7

I believe it could alao be called an age of aurvival. At stake ia our democratic way of life with ita various freedoms that we all cherish. The challenge for all students, regardless of ability, ia to pledge an all-out endeavor to train themselves to the fullest extent. To some, thia will mean additional training at the college level, to others a career in the service, and to many, technical training. Job opportunities for high school graduates without additional training are almost non-existent. Plan on further training and remember you must do your part in this age of Space and Survival.
