A yearbook tells a story, paints a picture, or composes a tune. With this in mind, the Kennel Staff began tentative plans, realizing that the story, the picture, or the tune must be able to convey a message. We knew that just as a faulty link weakens the chain, so shall a missing stroke upset the perspective of the creation. Through the Feature section, the past is seen. Through the Faculty, Organization, and Sports sec- tions, the future is represented. Our Advertising section extends school-community relationships and characteristically features the students. Meeting the Chal1enge . . . this is the theme of your 1960 Kennel. This is the theme of mankind in the book of life. Challenged by new horizons, we explore - never keeping ourselves prisoners from our ideals - always eager to grasp the baffling and hazy objects which hide deep in our minds. Youth accepts the challenge of life. Our aim is to try, to strive, to struggle, to fight, and to win. Although defeat may appear, we must meet the challenge and search for the answers. To the painter, who has captured the mood on his canvas . . the young boy, who has mastered the baseball . . . the student, striving to make the grade . . . the teacher, seeking to mold the minds of Youth . . the mother, cheerfully completing her daily tasks . . . the father, who always treads his path in rain or snow . . the teenager, striving for popularity . . . the businessman, keeping pace in a competitive world . . the singer, who improves and perfects . . . the farmer, the blacksmith, the carpenter, the writer, the actor, the pioneer. the dreamer, To these . . . we give honor with this book . . . for theirs is a struggle which pushes us on in times of sadness, theirs is a success which cheers us in our time of joy, theirs is a light which comes in the dark to guide us - to remind us of our task.
