IVVIIES Tahoe Truckee High, June, i953 An inspired Rookie team tasted its tirst victory ot the season today as the novice squad began to learn how to play the game. Leading the Rookie team in ottensive play and winning spirit were President Cary Anderson, Vice-President Jim Crawford, Secretary Virginia Speeler, and Treasurer Suzanne Knoetler. The Rookies' Coach ot the year was Miss Thelma Finger, their core teacher, com- monly known as ulVia.H Under their Coachis guidance, the Rookies studied Qrientation and Driver Education. As the dun sounded ending their first team ettort, the Rookie squad walked ott the field with a tee mg ot accomplishment and the realization that play- ing the game well requires sound drill and practice in fundamentals. Unce the Rookies had learned the basic rules ot play, they were able to concentrate on setting their standards and working toward the achievement ot their goals. RESERVES Tahoe Truckee High May, 1954 Vvlth a little experience be- hind them, the hard-fighting Re- serves earned their second victory tor the season. Among the teamis offensive plays, the most outstanding was the U17 Specially, a dance which was one ot the Re- serves, biggest scoring ettorts during the season. To push the 17 Specialn on to success were Presi- dent Erwin Single, Vice-President Pat Griffith, Secre- tary Duane Pomin, and Treasurer Bob Sanford, and the whole class as Hbackers-upn. Guiding the team during the game was Mr. Conrad Briner, the Reserves, Coach, who really helped the team to work together and to build school spirit. During the season, the Reserves studied World History and Eng- lish, giving written and oral reports in these subjects. There were also a tew debates in which the class was divided into offensive and deten- sive units, atter which a report trom an otticiaiis gun ended another suc cessiui competitive ettort.
