Faculty MRS. SYLVIA WHITTEN BURG teaches physical edu- cation md English, and assists as registrar. She received her B.S. Degree from Northeastern State College and is completing her Master of Teaching Degree this summer. MR. CHARLES GOBEN is Guidance Counselor and Science instructor. He has been with the faculty since 'l934. He received his B.S. Degree from North- eastem State College and his Master of Education Degree from Oklahoma University. MR. FARRIS BRAUN ioined the faculty this year as math and industrial arts teacher. He has a B.A. Degree from Northeastern State College. MRS. MARY BURROWS, freshman English instructor, has been with the faculty for two years. She received her Master of Teaching Degree from Northeastern State College. Mrs. Burrows is the advisor of the Junior High Journal and is sponsor of the freshman class. MR. BLAKE JARVIS, head of the Commerce depart- ment, received his B.S. Degree from Northeastern State College, and his M.S. Degree from the Univer- sity of Arkansas. He teaches typing and General Business and is sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society. MR. TOM JOHNSON, principal of the Tahlequah Junior High School, taught in the Tahlequah Public schools for 8 years and became principal in l952. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from North- eastern State College and his Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma. MR. CARL BURK has been custodian of Junior High School for 3 years. MRS. ZULABELLE DOBBINS, music instructor, is a graduate of Northeastern State College. MR. BILL NlCHOl.S is the art instructor for both iunior and senior high school. He received his B.S. from Northeastern State College and his M.A. from the University of Oklahoma. MRS. LILLIE GIRDNER, seventh and eighth grade home economics teacher, joined the faculty this year and served as half-time teacher. MR. CHARL.ES HATHAWAY is the vocational agri- culture teacher. He has been on the faculty for a number of years. He received his college training at Northeastern State Col lege and completed the require- ments for an M.A. Degree from Oklahoma A. 8. M. MR. DON WEBSTER, who ioined the faculty this year as band instructor, has guided our band through a successful season. He received his B.M.E. Degree from Oklahoma A. 8. M. at Stillwater. MR. HOMER JONES, physical education and indus- trial arts teacher, also has the iob as coach of foot- ball and basketball. He received his M.A. Degree from Oklahoma A. 8. M. and ioined the faculty in 1953. MR. HAROLD WASSON teaches General Science. He ioined the faculty this year. His B.S. Degree was received from Southeastern State College. MRS. REBA COX is the social studies teacher. She received her M.A. Degree from Okld1oma A. 8. M. college at Stillwater. MR. J'. ROY HELMER teaches Composite Math and Algebra and is sponsor of the Freshman class. He received his Master of Teaching Degree from North- eastern State College. Mr. Helmer ioined the faculty in 1952. MRS. ROBERTA HOLLAND, language arts teacher, ioined the faculty in l95-. She received her B.A. Degree from Northeastern State College and is doing graduate work at Northeastern. She is sponsor of the seventh grade class. MRS. NELLE YOUNG is the librarian and Language Arts teacher. She received her B.S. in Education Degree from Northeastern State College. MR. RUSSEL RATHJENS teaches the Junior High students the principles of mathematics, and is spon- sor of the student council. He received his B.A. in Education Degree from Northeastern State College. MR. Cl.EM GRIFFIN teaches history and has charge of the cafeteria. He received his B.S. from North- eastern State Col lege. MRS. MARY JARVIS, home economics teacher, teaches the girls to be leaders, homemakers and decorators. Mrs. Jarvis received her B.S.
