mama' am MR. LAURENCE RITTER We have dedicated this Derrick to Mr. Laurence Ritter for his able and willing assistance to the students during his twenty-one years of service here at Taft Union High School. All the dance programs, bids, concert programs, and other printed articles that we students have to remember our school activities by were made by Mr. Ritter. He stood up very well under all of the problems that were dumped in his lap, especially last minute work. So to you, Mr. Ritter . . . thanks, for a iob well done! THE DERRlCK STAFF

fm k EUGENE M. JOHNSTON District Superintendent cqbmiwleadewt' The most important administrative position in this school district is held by Mr. Eugene M. Johnston, District Superintendent. Together with a hard-working Board of Trustees, Mr. Johnston has unobstrusively and efficiently taken care of the many problems of school administration which came up during this past year. Although most students are not aware of the work of the District Superintendent, were it not for Mr. Johnston our schedule of school activities would be much less smoothly organized. Much praise is due Mr. Johnston for his steady behind-the-scenes activitiy. Through the cooperative efforts of the Student Body, Faculty, and Jerrick staff, this book has been made possible. Naturally, most of the work has been done by the Derrick staff, its Editor, and Mr. McCalib the Advisor. These people are to be congratulated on the fine piece of work. The yearbook serves as a storehouse of memories of what, we hope has been a pleasant year of high school education. The Derrick will become more valuable to the individual as the years pass. The student will be able to recall fellow stu- dents, happy memories, pleasant associations, and many enjoyable activities. The present yearbook is no exception, and l am sure all will enioy the book. ganna! af fuoaleec EUGENE M. JOHNSTON District Superintendent Left to right: George E. Martin, Eugene M. Johnston, W. T.
