They worked weeks before in prepororion for the bonfire. Ar rhe bonfire rhe seniors mode rheir traditional circle around ir and then song the Tofr High Almo Mater. ’Droculo , rhe senior ploy also caused o sensation. Opening night was October 28. The second per- formance was the 30th. The ploy also brought in o record sum total of $1,362. At rhe end of rhe lost perfor- mance Mr. Von Rosenberg was presented o briefcase by rhe senior ploy members for his pa- tience and hard work os the director. Seniors showed rheir spirit ond enthusiasm on rhe field os well os in fhe stands. They reached for goals ond left memories for oil. 1. Electives Moke Learning Appealing The curriculum includes classes like reoding, writing, and arithmetic; bur electives make leorning more appealing. Besides classes like VOE where a student can learn secretarial duties, and Homemaking where students learn how to cope with the everyday problems of living. there was the computer class which added six computers to the program. Then there was choir which was disbanded the first semester and then completely reorganized at mid-term. The Hounds' usual routine srorted with practice during the week or the first of August. The practices began at 8:00-10:30 and then from 6:00 to 8:00. This routine was carried out from the beginning of August til the week before school starred. The practice schedule was then changed, to 45 minutes during 3rd period athletics then from 3:00 to 7:00 of night. Practice paid off for the Hounds their successful year is whor they will never forget. Among the other highlights was when some of the football ployers got named to the All-District Football Team. We hod o great year. Things turned out os I expected them to. The highlight of the year was when Toft defeated Port Isabel. I would like to rhonk oil 23 members of the Greyhound squad for their ef- fort throughout the year. It wos on experience I will never forget, and one I know these fine young men will never forget. Hounds Win Area Practices, green and white streamers, and a gym full of cheering students lead to winning the Area Champs title. The first sign of the Hounds vic- torious winning streak wos when they bear the George West Longhorns in the Di-district playoffs. After the victorious win the Hounds went on to play the Port Isabel Tarpons. The Torpons were the number two team in the store of Texas prior to ploying the Mighty Greyhounds. When the Greyhounds advanc- ed to Regionals, they ployed the Sweeney Bulldogs. The Greyhounds met their match on a wet field and lost, 41-0. J.V. Overcome Size, Number The Toft Junior Vorsiry Greyhounds ended rhe seoson with o 3-4-1 record. The highlighr of rhe seoson wos when they lost to Refugio 21-20, with only thirteen ployers. Cooch Sweeney said he thought they displayed a lor of desire in overcoming rhe obstacles of size and the number of ployers.
