CHARLES HENRY EDWARDS Fellow classmates at Taft High School and the faculty members mourned the loss of Charles Henry Edwards. Of him they had to say: “The Student body deeply feels the loss of our Sophomore member, Charles H. Edwards. From many teachers as well as students came this unpremedi- tated remark, ‘He was such a nice boy’. “This opinion of Charles Henry was held by all whohadbeen his associates. Why did this consensus of opinion in thought exist? “Charles Henry exemplified all the characteristics of a boy who had evi- dently been well-trained at home. He had much respect for his teacher; he always repliedcourteously; he wasneverthe instigator of any petty annoyances. Charles Henry continually strove to please, not to provoke. “Charles Henry was a person of good report and is deserving of all the heavenly rewards which he may receive. Never a complaint when the going was rough, He played to win though he wasn't tough. He helped the other fellow when he was down; And, given a task, he accepted without a frown. Now this lad, it was plain to see. Was going to be great, a genius, maybe. But Fate intervened and took his hand And led him away to a more promised land. Coach Woodrow Petty
