STUDENT COUNCIL 1' if Ho, Giant! This is I! I have built me a bean-stalk into your sky! La,-but its lovely, up so high! EDNA ST. VINCENT MILLAY The Student Council may be said to be a kind of bootstrap by which the student body lifts itself Through its own effort to a high level of democratic citizenship. Its purposes are to stimulate and develop a healthy school spirit, to encourage and maintain participation by students in school activities, to promote student initiative in school proiects, to foster a spirit of cooperation among the students and faculty members, and to recommend ways and means by which the school may be improved. Members of the council are elected representatives of each homeroom. This year, the Student Council was fortunate in having, as guest speaker at an assembly program, Mr. Wendell H. Pierce, Superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools. His address, Developing Broader Understandings Through Education, was interesting, informative, and stimulating.
