Robuck, a graduate of Ohio State University and The University of Michigan. He was assisted by Miss Laura Connell, also a graduate of Ohio State. The marching band began with a rigorous four hour per day practice schedule two weeks before school opened and continued the pace throughout the football season. The band, accompanied by its five ma- jorettes and an expanded 14-member drill corps, performed at nine football games and four parades during the fall season. The Christmas concert marked the year's first performance by the Concert Band and also provided a look at the newly adopted formal concert attire for the girls. The Brass Choir, a select group from the band, was asked to perform twice on the steps of the Butler County Courthouse, adding to the Christmas festivities in the downtown area. The Winter Invitational Concert was another first for Taft High School. Each year guest artists, clinitions or directors will be featured. This year Dr. Robert Hartwell, director of bands at Eastern Kentucky University provided a memorable experience for both the band and the audience. Also featured on this program was the Taft Stage Band which had an ac- tive season of its own playing at various school and community functions. Two alternating Pep Bands provided music and spirit for Taftis home basketball games. 752-A1 C. 12431 l 185
