The Taft music department, underthe direction of Mr. John R. Stalls, is one of the largest organi- zations of the school. lts many divisions were often called upon to perform at various school functions. The Taft band kept spirit high at foot- ball and basketball games, later in the year pre- sented a spring concert, and with groups from the choirs and orchestra brought honors to the school at the Miami music contest. The Concert Choir, made up of sophomores, juniors, and seniors selected from the smaller vo- cal groups, presented several programs. Combined with the Taft orchestra they gave Thanksgiving and Christmas concerts and later performed out- standingly in the Spring Musical, the major pro- duction of the year. Besides providing music between the acts of Annie Get Your Gun, the Taft Oi'Cl'lSSff'3 WGS Called upon to entertain at several school assemblies and to perform at two school concerts. These organizations along with numerous en- semble groups provide opportunities for talented Taft students to gain experience and to improve their musical abilities, Cjinla' Ensemble Z i t gk iw ff , 935' 1 at i i Yi' 3 many Lou Coqle First Row: Linda Stitzel, Norma Ledford, Cathy Cummins, JoAnne Browning, Carol Holstein, Sandra Gray, Kathleen Shephe d Ma y Coleman Second Row: Virginia Hanlon, Judy Bowman, Kathy Auradcn, Virginia Gillaspie, Carolyn Jackman, Sandy Vitato M y Comm Mary Jane Gerber Carolyn Harrell 39
