DEDICATION 5 T41 XX -'QQ Q- W, .- 1 xi, s. ,YQ We, the students of Taft l-ligh School, dedicate edition Qt the Talisman to our parents, friends, and have looked towards the future and have made this school possible for us, the future citizens of America. After recognizing the need for our school and four others in this communityjfafcplan fin theic,forrr1Qof,,iaj ,put before the Hamilton voters by the Board ioflilfducation. These voters said yes and arrangements were made right away to begin construc- tion on our school. ln the passing years many problems were faced by those responsible, but when fall of l96O came the Taft doors were open, waiting for us, the first students of Taft to enter. This first year was rough going sometimes, but each student strived to help build a better Taft for the future years. Many times our hopes were downcast but the spark of Tiger Spirit was always present, helping Taft to move forward. We have accepted the trust and responsibility of this building, and have carried it out to the best of our ability in social activities, sports, and scholarship. To the future Taft students we entrust this school with the significance it was given to us.

'Ike '3onmal Dedication ob 'Iabt -High School The Taft dinner was well supported by everyone. Many par- ents willingly gave up of their time to work in the kitchens or to help in many other capacities with the dinner. For all Taft students and those con- cerned with the planning and build- ing of this school. Dedication Day was most memorable and exciting. Everyone, that day, expressed their gratitude for this new school. The American Legion of l-lamilton began the ceremony by raising a new flag over Taft. The Band followed with a fine concert presented out on the green. In the auditorium the keys of the building were presented to Mr. Grover Kirgan, President of the Hamilton Board of Education, by a representative of the architect firm that planned the school. l-le was fol- lowed by Dr. Lester L. Dickey, Super- intendent of Hamilton Schools, who addressed those present. Miss Lida Blackford, representing the student body, expressed pride the students share in their new school. Throughout the day a delicious turkey dinner was served in the cafe- teria. This successful dinner was served by Taft parents. The Ways and Means committee headed the af- fair. Inspired by these various activities the Taft students began their tradi- tionaof living up to the expectation of those adults who have provided this school. a L E iii The American Legion comes to attention as the Tiger Marching Band gets into step. l'l4
