ENGINEERING STAFF working engineer as Mr. Lantz, after twelve years of service he has retired. Taft's new addition, completed at the end of 1958, came about partially through the supervisory and planning efforts of Mr. Lantz under the direction of the architect. -...ff Mr. joseph L. Manelli has been an engineer for the Board of Education since 1924. He has worked at Lowell and Pulaski grade schools and at Spaulding High School. Superintendent of the Chicago Public schools, and other school officials were invited to attend the dedication. Here Miss Brueckman demonstrates the Perceptascope. On November 10, 1960, Taft High School dedicated the Vorhees Reading Laboratory. The laboratory honors the late Mrs. Condit Vorhees, Norwood Park elementary school teacher, and her husband, Mr. Condit Vorhees, community leader. Donors who presented money to establish the lab included Misses Louise, Helen, jewel, and Martha 1-Ioaglund, cousins of Mr. Vorhees, and Mr. Stuart Crippen, who spearheaded the drive for the lab by donating funds for the reading accelerators. An estimated 352, 400 has been spent on the laboratory. Equipment for the lab includes a perceptascrope, reading accelerators, and shadowscope reading pacers. The laboratory doors stand open to students who wish to work during their free periods. 1, Fr Marilyn Moody is pictured using a Science Research Associates reading pacer.
