NAVIGATION The NAVIGATION DEPARTMENT consists of a Navigatorg who's primary duty is to determine the ship's position, at least within 50 miles, at any time - and the Quarter- mastersg wh0's duties include seeing that the ensign is right side up, taking care of pen. cils and erasers, and seeing that coffee is not spilled on the charts. Another of the col- lateral duties of the QM is that of log scribbling, though quite often the services of the cryptographer are called upon to break the code.
