ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT The ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT is the lifeblood of our flagship, TACONIC. Keeping life in the old girl is not as simple as turning a a key or pushing a button. It takes hours of hard workg in- tensive training and lots of know how. The ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT is responsible for the operation, care, and maintenance of the ship's main propulsion and auxiliary machinery as well as the piping and electrical systems. They must be able to: Make the T go when the OOD orders, ALL AHEAD TWO-THIRDSg pro- vide light when someone closes a switchg makes repairs when someone calls 8983 and provide cool air to keep elec- tronic equipment cool and the justice to keep the coffee hot.
