The rate of Gunners Mate is the second oldest in the Navy today. The duties of these two combined rates include the upkeep and repair of the one 5fifn and the two twin !f0mm which make up the ship's armament, training the ship's landing party, and the.maintenance of small arms and the Armory where they are kept.
