When they hit the beach after 'Land the Landing Force !' has been sounded, and as the first crucial hours pass, facility of communications becomes more and more important. It is this facility of communications to which the MARINE COMMUNICATIONS DETACHMENT is dedicated. MCD, as they are called aboard TACONIC, plays this vital role of support-so necessary to the success of an Ambhib- ious Gperation. They spin that thin Web of vital communica- tions-and without the strength of that web ultimate victory might well be impossible.
