FRE HMA A C TI VI TIE Leaving family, friends, and all that is familiar to enter new and unpredictable situations is often difficult to face. Even those not far from home know that there are unsure moments ahead. As an initial welcoming, the freshmen are ushered into their first year at Tabor through a week of Orientation. The tradition includes a tag- ging ceremony, tug-of-war, trial, and tal- ent night. We 'll take care of 'ern next year! Sophs present each freshman with a keepsake. YOUR SON HAS A PAIN! Homecoming is a week- end that brings the entire school to- gether in anxious hope during a game, in thanks for a delicious meal, in pride of a play well done. The summer's anticipation of the first crack ofa football helmet brings the team together in excitement and eagerness. Hours of persistent exer- cise build physical endurance, skill, coordination and courage. Football takes people that can practice to- gether and against each other and still be friends. It requires mental discipline, determination, the ability to overcome attitudes of defeat, and strength to take the knocks as well as the good times. 24 Randy Lzebelt Mark Wiens CHEERLEADER Though it often requires hoarse throats and long hours of practice, the cheerleaders are dedicated to building up the school's enthusiasm at games e I2 and to showing the team they 're behind i them in confidence and concern. -I .L- .,--4'-,..- 'X Jodi Thesman IHead Cheerleaderl, Dianne Klassen, Patti Gaede, Carol Thesman, Bar'b Dahl. 26 .1 T' BASKETBALL . CFA CFA is concerned with the vital spiritual growth of individuals on this campus. It provides direction as to the study of God 's Word, supplies opportunities of Christian service in surrounding communities, and brings people together in fellowship and prayer. CFA Retreat is a weekend full of horsebackriding, swimming, canoeing, hiking, putting on skits, discussing new ideas, singing around a campfire, taking a communion together at sunrise, and is a great time to experience anew the closeness of God. faboue leftj Mark Maiers, K above rightj Bryan Reimer, Ileftj Mr. Abe Penner - Speaker. lilll faboue1H, H. Four dominant traits characterize Roy Just. First, he is an eternal optimist. His ability to keep his poise and to keep believing and hop- ing is contagious. It is this kind of spirit that carries others along when the going gets tough. . He is also a deeply committed person. His life is focused sharply on Christ and Christ's mission for His people in this world. He is a seri- ous student of God's Word and enjoys proclaiming God 's message in word and in deed. He is a man of dreams and visions, always reaching out for new experiences, new programs, new dimensions, new expressions, new creations. Some of his dreams collapse, but he never quits dreaming. He is a man of unusual productivity, endurance, and perseverance. His work often ends in the early morning hours. He carries the load of several persons. He enjoys his work and thus inspires others to work hard too. 76 In thankfulness for his creative and dynamic leadership we want to dedz cate this yearbook to President Roy ADMINISTRA TIO , 4' K 'lf X Q z 4 7 .l , ,,.! , ffl' fill. Many, many hours of work have been spent behind this window, and often I have gazed out of it for a new idea or for a sense of calmness. Now, on a Saturday morning in February, at 4:38 a.m., the yearbook is completely finished. I thank God for putting it in my hands to make this book and for the strength, patience, and help from others that He gave me along the way. Cindy Lewis 1973 Bluejay Editor , .
