BAND NEWS © CONCERT BAND OP aaa Tt } | | Mark Cody, Editor; Mark Gill, Cartoonist; Thomas Crissie Thornton, Scott Skerjanec, Jennifer Cody, Al- c| Jones, Circulation Manager and Financial Reporter; ison Dellinger, Angela Shook, Jonathan Cook, Kevin 4 Jon Shook, Assistant Editor; Noelle Smith, Secretary; Holcombe, Ben Ridley, Andrew Mayberry. : Rhonda Shook, Printing Manager. “Sing unto Him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.” Psalm 33:3 “I wish to see all arts, principally music, in the service of Him who gave and created them. Music }is a fair and glorious gift of God. I would not for the world forego my humble share of music... I am strongly persuaded that after theology there is no art that can be placed on a level with music; | for besides theology, music is the only art capable of affording peace and joy of the heart ... the devil | flees before the sound of music almost as much as before the Word of God.” — Martin Luther It is a great privilege for the members of the Symphonic Band to have a part in the ministry of music. | It’s fun, to be sure; but, beyond that, it is an activity that should truly count for eternity in a very real ) way. Through their many performances this year, including their third annual Spring Band Concert and their second annual tour (in Tennessee), band members had a chance to proclaim the Good News | to sinners, draw believers closer to the One Who died for them, and excite those believers to a greater j}and more zealous ministry. Our band performs for American Heritage Day.
