The sixth grade boys share the responsibility of raising and lowering the flag each morning and afternoon throughout the school year. Brent Berkley, Jonathan Cook, and Brian Smith serve as our school safety patrol. They help direct parents who are not famil- iar with the grounds and observe to see that traffic patterns are followed. They also assist students in crossing traffic lanes by stopping the cars. Thank you, boys. We appreciate your good work. Again this year our kindergarten and first grade students visited shut-ins in their homes and in area nursing homes at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sharing a fruit basket, poems, songs, and Bible verses brings joy and satisfaction to the giver and the receiver. | The children and their teachers were urged to “come again. Valentines which they and the fourth grade students made. ” So in February, the kindergarten class returned to share hugs and 67

(Not pictured: Kathy Teague) Displaying good sportsmanship and the right attitude while participating in competitive sports are traits that do not blossom naturally. They must be taught. This is the most important aspect of the work done by the coaches and officials during elementary basketball games. In addi- tion, the students learn the rules of the game and gain valuable experience as they practice and sharpen their athletic skills. We say “Thank You!” to the officials and coaches who guide and direct the program and to the parents who take the time to come and support their children.
