“BAND NEWS” STAFF Mark Cody — Editor Todd Donaldson — Assistant Editor Scott Phelps — Humorist Mark Gill — Cartoonist “Beffie” Eaker — Weekly Columnist Rhonda Shook — Printing Manager Ron “Ronbo” Canipe — Staff Infection This year was a memorable one for our High School Band. There were the usual annual performances: American Heritage Day, the Christmas Program (ending with the spine-tingling “Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson), the Spring Arts and Science Festival, and High School Graduation. In addition, the band gave its second annual Spring Concert, featuring a wide variety of selections. Never-to-be-forgotten was the unbelievable “Concerto Gross,” starring our principal, Mr. Berkley, and two “extin- guished” senior soloists. This year’s biggest event, however, was our first annual Band Tour with performances in four states in five days. But there was time for relaxation — a day at Six Flags over Georgia. The trip was a great opportunity for ministry, fellowship, and for meeting new peo- ple. 1986-87 also marked the development of the “Band News” into a full-blown literary travesty — delighting, infuriating, tickling, inspiring, and educating readers from Greenville, S.C., to Hammond, Indiana, and from the Bus Garage to the Band Annex. Mr. Bloodworth feels that this was easily the best band T. C. S. has ever had and wishes to commend each member for his hard work! Farewell to our four seniors: Randy Setzer (5 years), Scott Phelps (6 years), Steven Teague (6 years), and Gary Eaker (8 years!). The band will surely miss them.
