Thespian Troupe 1585 ( Under the direction of Ms. Barbara Zalumas and Mrs. Marian Smith, the Thespians had a very successful and enlightening year. The Thespian Society is an organization made up of outstanding honor drama students who must earn a specific number of points to even be eligible, then must have a Vi vote by the members to be tapped. The society is the underlying foundation of all the dramatic productions at Tabb. Despite great obstacles this I year, the Thespians came through to put on a fine production of The Best of Broadway” which was allowed a mere four weeks of rehearsal time. Thespians: Seated: J. Dinkins, C, Britt. This year’s debate and forensics team competed in fifteen meets. Seventeen trophies and thirteen certificates were awarded to the group throughout the year. Each time the team entered competition, it brought back to Tabb a first or second place trophy. Four members of the group went to State. Students In NJROTC Students graduating from Tabb High School last year won $470,000 worth of college scholarships and in addition enabled the smdents to enter into the services with higher pay grades. Extra curricular activities included the Annual Military Ball held at the Officers Club at Langley Air Force Base, the Annual Awards Night, where cadets who have distinguished themselves during the year were recognized, and many other varied programs. Field trips were held during the year with trips at sea on Navy ships, flights in helicopters and other items contributed to a well rounded year for the cadets. The NJROTC Rifle Team and the Drill Team competed with other units throughout the year. The Drill teams participated in many parades including the Williamsburg Christmas Parade, Armed Forces Day Parade in Phoebus, Loyalty Day in Hampton and ROTC Day at Hampton Instimte.
