The Tabb Tiger Band began the year, as always, appearing as the half-time entertainment for the at home” football games. All shows were well received by the audiences, but the Fifties” show and the Halloween” program were the highlights of football season. The Most Popular Band in Tidewater” award was presented to the Tiger Band by Radio Station WGH. Along with this honor went $1000 to spend on band instruments. Other awards included a first-place trophy at the Williamsburg Christmas Parade — for the third time in four years — and excellent ratings at the District VIII Band Festival. The trip to Canada proved to be the most exciting experience of the year. Each band member had to earn his way to Canada by selling oranges and grapefruit from Florida. Over 1900 boxes were sold and distributed throughout the area. Sunny Days Revue also extended its help and interest in sending the band to visit our northern neighbors. The band spent the first night of the trip in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and then traveled on to Toronto. After performing at the Applewood Heights Secondary School, the Tigers were off to Montreal for sight-seeing, and ended the trip with a concert at Independence Mall in Philadelphia. It was another successful year for Mr. Ironmonger and his bands. Tigers March To Canada 78 Band

Keyettes Have Busy Year Keyettes have been quite busy this year. Besides working to improve the community and Tabb High, the Keyettes have also participated in the required activities of District Keyettes. This year the Keyettes have done such things as worked at the Health Fair, sold mums at Homecoming, helped a needy family at Christmas and collected for the Heart Fund. Some of the Keyettes took part in the March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon. Keyettes sponsored Key-Etiquette Day. With their civic sponsors they had a Mother-Daughter night. The most recent project was the selling of jewelry for funds. In District Keyettes they participated in R.D.T., and sold candy. Next year they expect to have a better and more fullfilling year.
