Mr. Miller Leaves Tabb This is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps the end of the beginning.” Winston Churchill somehow sums up the situation of our recently-resigned Principal Mr. Richard B. Miller. A long and involved past which, began in Augusta County, now is taking on new dimensions as Assistant Superintendent of York County Public Schools and has opened up a future of high hopes. He attended Triplett Elementary School in Mt. Jackson and also Triplett High School. At VPI and UVA he received a B.S. and M.Ed. respectively. In Shenandoah County, he acted as the elementary school principal and later took over his first vice principal position of Harrisonburg High School. In September 1966, as York High School’s Principal, he handled the maelstrom of paperwork, duties and operation with such smoothness and success that when Tabb High School opened in 1972, he assumed the extremely respected and demanding role of Principal and was faced with the extraordinary task of putting a new Tabb High on it’s feet and kicking.” Presently acting as Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Miller enjoys the added administrative dimensions of his work now, but misses the personal contact and emotion he was so used to in the past. Dedication Is Mr. Morris In One Word On February 2, 1976, Mr. Robert T. Morris became the second Principal of Tabb High School. Mr. Morris has been a life-long resident of Virginia except for a short time spent in New York and two drafted terms in the United States Army. He grew up on the family’s farm, fishing with his father and taking work available to him in the rural community. His father gave him some good advice which he passes on today, Learn to do anything that gives you an honest dollar.” This advice has enabled him to excel in all he has undertaken. Mr. Morris attended two high schools, Gloucester County Training School and Rappahannock Industrial Academy, with the intention of going into medicine. Later he decided it would be to his family’s advantage for him to teach. He also attended the College of William and Mary, Old Dominion University and Virginia State College, where he received his B.S. and M.S. In his spare time, Mr. Morris enjoys the company of his wife and son while he dabbles in farming and cooking, his favorite hobbies. We all want to wish continued good luck to Mr. Robert Morris in his coming years at Tabb High School. Administrators 51
