Anything Guys Can Do, We Can Too A 58-52 win over favored York High was the high point of a 50-50 season for the Tabb Girls’ Track Team. Coach Fred Mitchell, assisted by Coach Bev Tyree, said, We are losing only one person from the team and we’re Icxjking forward to a good season next year. Outstanding performances were turned in by juniors Connie Whitaker, Robin Brcx)ks and senior Peggy Thomberry. Robin Brooks finishes her lap in the 440 relay. Indoor Track The Indoor Track team ended the season with several new school records. Sophomore Brian McLure set the rc..ord for the two mile run with a time of 10:32; Junior Greg West set the high jump record with a jump of 5Jo.5”; and the 880 relay record was set with a time of 1 :37.1 by West, Mark Starr, Mike Cooter and Mitch Stoutenberg. Two members went to the state meet in Lexington. These members were West in the 300 yard dash and Valentino Francis in the shot put. Frances qualified for state by throwing the shot 43 3 ' a , placing fourth in the district meet. Other outstanding people in the district meet were Starr, Mike Spencer, Brian McLure, Clark Ridge, Steve Richmond, Mike Cooter and Mitch Stoutenberg. In district competition the team defeated Poquoson and Gloucester. These were significant wins since both will join Tabb in the York River AA next year. The indoor program probably helped this year’s track season by improving runners performances and breaking several old school records. Top Right: Tino Francis after a great run.
