The Spirit Of ' 76 As cheerleading practice began last August, experience was not lacking among the Varsity Squad. Through the freezing cold and pouring rain of football season, twelve girls could be seen yelling cheers and drumming-up spirit for the THS Tigers. The Tabb basketball team saw its best season and the cheerleaders were there to help celebrate the victories and minimize the defeats. Each week, under the direction of sponsors Mrs. Sherry Hodges and Miss Jane Blalock, a sign was painted and displayed in the Commons to publicize the games. The cheerleaders marched with the Tiger Band in the Williamsburg Christmas Parade and at half-time shows of the football games. Pep Rallies Raise School Spirit? As usual the Tabb vs. York football game was the highlight of all pep rallies. This year Tabb hosted the first Tabb ’500, a special rally depicting the York defeat. Tricyclists for the York team were Mr. Pippin, Mrs. Hannah Roberts, Mr. Jones, and Mr. Masterson. Tabbs team was Mike Spencer, Mike Spurio, Dennis Pearce and Timmy Thomas. Both the Tigers and the Falcons got off to a good start but the mighty Tigers sped to victory. The Falcons were presented with a gift by the Tiger team, a pie in the face. ■ Football players look on with enthusiasm. J.V. cheerleaders lead crowd yells. A pile-up which led to Yorks final defeat. . V. ' s Cheer On! The J.V. cheerleaders are a group of serious, hard-working girls who also began work in August after summer tryouts. When school started they were ready to open the first J.V. football game with new cheers and spirit. This year’s J.V. cheerleaders found cheering was not just something to do in their spare time. It takes hard work, talent, time, coordination and pride in your school to do a good job.
