Tabb Wins Basketball Trophy The 19 ' 5-76 basketball squad was the most successful in Tabb High School’s short history. Ronald Dillard was the leading scorer and led the team to a 7-13 regular season record and runner-up in the Wakefield Christmas Classic on December 19-20, 1975. The trophy awarded was the first for Tabb in basketball with Ronald Dillard also being selected Most Valuable Player in the tournament. Though the overall season record showed more losses than wins, the Tigers played the best basketball of the school history. Joe Dillard was second in scoring and led the team in rebounding. Though Tabb conceded a height advantage to most every opponent, the Tigers managed to pressure opponents with excellent defense lead by Lorenzo Moore, Garland Thornton, and Paul Furby. Consistent and encouraging, Wallace Dillard and Andy Deskins rounded out the squad that will return in 1976-77 to continue a winning and successful season.
