Tigers Alive In ' 75 Tabb Tiger football began, as it always does, on a humid afternoon in August. Expectations were high because it was a known fact that this was the best group of returning players in Tabb’s history. But, as has been the case all too often in football, injuries took their toll. And what a toll! Several times during the season there were less than 20 players healthy enough to practice. The coaching staff must be given credit for not quitting on the team. The players were well aware that the coaches, no matter how acute their frustration might be, would always be with them, and that made it much easier to stick it out. The season was not without bright spots, however. There was Tabb’s first victory over the LaFayette Rams, a victory made much sweeter by the fact that it was won in Williamsburg with converted slot-back Dennis Pearce at quarterback. Other highlights included Pearce setting a state record with 43 pass receptions and along with defensive end John Kubesh, being named to the first-team all- district team. Expectations are high for next year due to the fact that the Tigers will be a member of the new AA York River District. But be the league AA or AAA, be the opponent Hampton or Poquoson, one thing is for certain: The Tabb Tigers will NEVER throw in the towel.” Eiottom: Coach Horton discusses the next play. Career Team The Tabb High School Career Team is an organization of students and faculty members interested in promoting vocational opportunities and career explorations at Tabb. The team provides an important communication link between student btxly and school administrators by enabling them to help initiate new vocational programs and recommend longrange curriculum changes. The group also evaluates current career programs for both vocational and college bound students. Publicizing the Career Room in the IRC was one of the Teams major projects this year. AVClub The 1975-76 AV Club was composed of 13 members whose main goal was to record news items around school in order to increase communication between students, SCA and what they are doing.” They were taught how to use the various pieces of equipment and use this knowledge in classrooms. They also learned to use the video tape recorder and taped our Tigers in action” at many basketball games. The SCA and AV Club sponsored a Halloween Horrow Film on October 30th showing one film in the afternoon and one in the evening. Sight And Sound Corps The Sight and Sound Corps is composed of Tabb High students who are interested in working the lightboard and sound system for all programs held at Tabb. Each student is trained in the area which he is interested in by the sponsor Mr. Tew. This year’s crew is composed of: Scott Weidman, Mr. Tew, James White, Richard Breen, Steve Walton, Mike Denkins and Angie Veach. Absent: Brenda Scoggins.
