and the Senior Ball have demonstrated that, without any formal action of the faculty, the center of our social activity has been shifted to the campus. When the frontage on Uni- versity and College places has become filled with dormitories like the halls already completed, another force will be at work in the same direction. As New England today feels the impress of the early puritan, so the university can never get away from the fact that it was founded by men who gave their prayers along with their money. They intended to build both for humanity and for their church. The religious spirit has always been strong. Thelfuture will never see it otherwise. Some day the spite ofa beautiful gothic chapel will point heavenward from this hill.
