Compliments of 1945 is an important year in history and it will always have special meaning to the seniors of '57. It was in this year that we embarked on the adventure called school. There were 43 of us then. Under the guidance of Mrs. Rapp we learned our ABC's. Mrs. Meredith helped us to advance a little further on the road to knowledge. During our second year, we became better acquainted with our numbers and reading. Also during our second year we lost 13 members, but gained 9. Of these 9 new members, 2 were to become members of the graduating class of 1957. They are Larry Nicolai and Jim Caskey. Mrs. Esther Weaver introduced us to another milestone on the road of know- ledge --multiplication tables. Mrs. Gants helped us to pass this milestone of fourth grade. We especially recall story time. At the start of our fifth year, we acquired another member of the Class of '57 —Nelson Kistler. We decreased in size from 43 to 35. Our sixth and final year in the old grade building we will remember for many things. Some of us still shudder at the remembrance of Mr. George and his paddle. Mark Godshalk, Steve Keim, and Terry McClintic joined us here. We entered the high school building in the fall of '51 with a mixture of eagerness and awe. During the year, another member of the class of '57 was added--Carol Dreher. At the beginning of our eighth year we picked up another member who was to graduate with us—Paul Beezley. At last we were going to start high school. Bette Mollenhour, Roddy Laughlin, Robert Robinson, and David Rupprecht joined us as we entered. We'll never forget the cow's eye we passed around in biology class. Our sophomore year we marked by the sale of schedule pencils. We noticed a slight increase in activities. The graduating class of '57 was completed in our junior year with the ad- dition of Carol App. We all began to realize that we only had one more year of school with the ordering of our class rings. To increase our finances we undertook such projects as magazine sales, canteen, and our class play, Girl Shy. During our senior year we began to really understand the meaning of the word busy. What with magazine sales, our senior class play, Junior Prom , annual staff, news staff, club meetings and all the other activities that go along with being seniors, we scarcely had time to do our lessons. There are 10 charter members in the class. They are: Bea Bachman, Wanda Coy, Lou Ann Hunnicutt, Janet LeCount, Sharon Miller, Harriett Traster, Lee Barnhart, Jerry Hapner, LaMar Hughes, and Ned Nolan.
