After completing his studies here he studied at Union Seminary, Virginia and at Columbia Seminary, South Carolina. He attended the University of Leipsig, and up- on retgngiling to America received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the Univer- sity 0 nicago. After Hnishing his education Dr. McPheeters was a member of the faculty of Synodieal College. From here he was made Dean of Lindenwood College, but he re- turned to Fulton where he was made President of Synodical. He then taught at VVar- rensburg State Normal School, and was Dean ot' Olivet College, Michigan, taught at l-lampton-Sydney College, Virginia, taught at XVCSUl'lll'lS'fCl', and was made Acting President of Synodical. Dr. Mcl'heeters was also a minister of the Gospel for tive years. Dr. Mcljheeters has done his major work in the Held of Philosophy of Education. l'le has made an intensive study of the subject and his ability as a teacher in this de- partment has received wide recognition. In his relation to Synodical College he follows in the footsteps of his father, Judge hlcl'heeters, who was l.'resident of the Board for many years. Dr. Mel'hecters is not only lvresident of the Board, but he comes into more inti- mate contact with the students through his position of Acting President. DEAN BENSON BOTTS A.B., B.S., A.M., Missouri Dean' Dean Benson Botts received the degrees of A.B., B.S. and A.M. from the Univer- sity of Missouri. She has also done graduate work at the University of Chicago. 'Before having become Dean of Synodical College she taught for eleven years in the Mexico High School. She was for one year Professor of History in the Texas Presby- Wian College, and Professor of Social Science for three years in Oklahoma College for omen. Aside from the manifold duties of Dean of Synodical she has taught the classes of European History and American Government. It has been mainly through her intense interest in the latter subject that the Junior League of Women Voters was organized. Dean Botts has also taken an active part in the women's work of the church and has been a regular attendant of the Presbyterials each year. Her influence has been of great help to those present. I For six years she hs been Dean of Synodical College. For six years she has molded and shaped the lives of the students of this college into women of culture and high purpose. She has made college life home life by binding us into one large family. She has created a feeling of sisterhood among the students-a fine and treasured college spirit that has been developed throughout the past six years. She has been a progressive instructor, a Willing and helpful adviser, a sympathizer in troubleg above all a loyal sponsor whose inspiring personality and deep devotion to the advancement of the interest and welfare of the students, and her unselfish service to the college have placed her on a high pedestal in the hearts of all Synodical girls.
