Working closely with the board of education, Mr. Clyde Plant, superintendent of the Sylvania City Schools, oversaw all the activities of the schools. Assistant superintendent, Mr. Richard Fuller, was in charge of all business procedures, selection of all secretarial personnel, and stu- dent transportation. Mr. Fuller worked in close connection with Mr. Hugh Straight on the con- struction and maintenance of the Sylvania build- ings. Acting as federal coordinator was Mr. George Erickson, while Mr. Richard Kimmel handled the treasury. The purpose of Mrs. Maxine Put- man's job was to cooperate with principals and teacher committees and to head the teacher re- cruitment plan. All of these coordinators strove to secure student and teacher relation bonds. Mr. Clyde Plant, in the third year as superintendent was always bettering Sylvania High an our com- munity. Key figures coordinate past experience, skills Mr. Roy Becker, in his first year as principal of Sylvania High School, stepped from the position of assistant principal, a position he commanded for three years. Because of his 17 years experience with the high school, Mr. Becker was able to do a great deal for the welfare of the school and its students. Along with the assistant principal, Mr. James Glase, he guided the 1584 students along the paths of secondary education. Overseeing all public relations and work with the teachers, he promoted school unity. A man of many duties, Mr. Glase wrote excuses, ordered all text books, and scheduled functions and activities.
