From the time the school bell enticed the pupils back to our hallowed halls, Girls Athletic Association was on the go, planning, working, and having fun. Their first project was the annual G.A.A. Fun Night, held November l, in Burnham's auditorium. Volleyball, dancing, and iust plain having fun made the evening pass quickly. With the coming ot Christmas vacation, some ot the girls began one ot the biggest proiects of the year, the H1955 Dance Capades. The theme decided upon, after much thought, was Dancing Through the Year. The dances were planned and directed with the aid ot Leaders Club and Poppy, thus, the night ot February l7 proved outstand- ing in the roll of Burnham's events. With Dance Capades practice going on, the girls still found time to play volleyball and basketball intramurals. Mikki Eppard's team made a good attempt to capture tirst place position, but it wasn't enough to stop Jean Maiyo's high-flying team from capping the trophy. Phyllis Spino's team captured the third place spotlight. With the coming ot spring, tennis and archery became popular sports among the G.A.A. members. On the social side Boy Friend Night dominated the scene, with girls inviting boys to the big April 4 whirl. The year's activities were drawn to a close with the annual ban- quet, at which were presented the awards earned during the year. -i Compliments of Sylvania Bowling Alley lf:-r'r::ers of S:-'r C' Bible Club v seated are: Flna Eckrtart, Sandra ff-rsted, Pa. ine Hutt- rran, presidew, Dcfe Boker, ,ii presaert, Sr ' e,f Sar- derscn, choristew Ratf, Jones. ' 5 '45 Shown standing in front of the auditorium are Clayton Ogren, president, Judy Mansfield, secretary, Karen Matheny, treasurer, and Jack Brown, vice-president - the officers of the iunior class. Nearing our year Ooops! We iust slid into third and are heading for the home plate, our senior year. The big run toward third base began with the receiving of our class rings. It continued with Rhapsody in Blue, our prom. We were spurred on by our manager, Clayton Ogren, without whose help we would still be on second. Jim Moy and Jim Rodebaugh were the most valuable contributions of the class to sports. The Junior-Senior Farewell in the spring climaxed our big year. -L. 108 45 Iv' x f ll W-'v ,fy iq. x I, ll Z, 'PF - ui 5 ff '-E1 ' f c-r ...., f .K 9 fs -, Q fx 1' , I ,A ,fy E f 1, nf 7 of graduation . . -.X CLIP .31 .ff 'J J , if 2 ua FF' V If Jr gf. 4 -. , vw ' ,Z -J lx- , f 'fa- A. lv' t I It K V' J-S Q . But either way we're tired, and why shouldn't we be after twelve years . . . That first year - kindergarten - and the false illu- sion that we are going to enjoy school. Jumping out of bed and into a pair of flannel knickers with a button- dovvn trap, we headed toward breakfast - a bowl of hot Pablem. We tucked our pencil boxes behind our ear and headed for school, that first, fateful day. Then the ax fell. The first grade, things began to really get technical. We learned to read and even to count! With the second, third, and fourth grades came the terrible realization that sometime in our school life we might have to - excuse the awful word - work? ln the fifth grade we noticed that in another year we would be the top dogs. This, of course, was in the old-fashioned days of Buster Brown haircuts and going to grade school only until the sixth grade. Sixth grade, and the big political string-pulling for the chance to be safety patrol guard and help the little kids across the street. Then came the really big year - our grand entrance to Burnham. We must have liked Mr. Abel's geography class because later most of us became Globelteers. That year Joyce Tuckerman served the first of her three terms as our class president. The last four years were the most rapid. Dick Wells served as our class president in our sophomore year and we elected Jean Maiyo to that office as juniors. Next was Dick Ford. Lowell Mays became one of the few to serve as judge for two years. Dave Woodward was the student council president. As l said, we're tired so good-bye. . 1 SUSI ACKLAND GERALD ALLER JAMES ANSTED DICK ASHBA Sus! ho5n't gone to the dogs - It is better to love lots ot gtrls Seest thou o mon dtligent in hte Whot is mind?
