D R VE ROSSON, USN EXECUTIVE OFFICER Following commissioning in I962, Commander Rosson served in various billets in a minesweeper homeported in Sasebo, japan. After three years involving a variety of Far Eastern minesweeping exercises, including an early prewar operation in South Vietnam, Commander Rosson attended the U,S, Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, earning a degree in Communications Engineering. In the summer of I967 he began a tour as Operations Officer in the Newport, Rhode island homeported ship, USS CROMWELL QDE-lOl4h. This tour wasffollowed by assignment as Com- munications Officer to COMCRUDESF1-OT ELEVEN with deployments to the Seventh Fleet. In I97l Commander Rosson took command of USS. PLEDGE, KMSO-4925 homeported in Long Beach, California. Subsequent to a nine month WESTPAC deployment, Commander Rosson was relieved in l973 in time to attend the Command and Staff course at the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island. From I973 until I976, ,Commander ,Rosson served as Com- munications, operations, and Plans Officer at NAVCOMMSTA Greece, followed by a two year tour at the Defense Communi- cations Engineering Center outside Washington, D.C. Com- mander Rosson reported to USS SYLVANIA in September V978- Commander Rosson is married to the former Louise Carolyn Lakie of Port Arthur, Texas.
