Sylvan's science program and science teachers are doing much to discover and develop those talents and abilities possessed by our stu- dents. The program is designed to begin in the very first year of high school and continue throughout the high schooi years. VVith this program and the devoted men and women who teach it, Sylvan students are well prepared to continue their studies in this field. SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT Man is a social animal both in his personal and group life. It becomes necessary, then, to study the social relationship of the past and present. Through the study of geography. history, government, economics, and social problems, stu- dents learn useful lessons for their personal lives, their busi- nesses, and their political participation. The teachers in this department lead their students in the important function of learning how better to understand themselves and their fel- lowmen throughout the world.
