Duncan Sylvan Hills capped a fine season by winning the State Title at Taylor Field in Pine Bluff. The Bears were holders of a 13-6-2 record. In the state tournament they roared through four straight wins, playing near perfect baseball, and flattening the states' most powerful teams in their drive to the championship. In the opening round they rolled over Junction City 8-5, nipped Paragould in the second round 5-4, and then moved past Greenwood 5-3, in the semifinals. Then came the pay-off as they edged Bay 2-1, in nine-inning heart-stopper to be- come the 1965 STATE CHAMPIONS. The Bears gathered a lions share of the honors in having three men placed on the ALL-STATE TEAM: Floyd Marshall, Robert Jenkins, and Andy Duncan. In addition, Andy was voted as the tournament's best all-round player. This is Sylvan Hills first STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. II6 EveAy man has thnee chanactenss That which he exhibito.
