I x J v VARSITY BASKETBALL DISTRICT CHAMPS The Sycamore Wxldcats entered tournament play feellng they had a good record even though they had flve losses to the1r cred1t A m1d season operat1on on Danny Bogard wh1ch kept h1m out of eleven games was one of the reasons for some of these losses The cats breezed through the county tournament to wm 1ts srxth straxght champ1onsh1p and the honor to represent the county at the d1str1ct tournament at Mansfmeld Durmg the Ma.nsf1eld tournament the Sycamore boys kept 1n the wm column by defeatmg Lexmgton Crestlme and Sulphur Sprmgs Then the fmals Huron the team that defeated Sycamore m an upset last year The boys avenged that defeat w1th a score of 66 to 55 and At the Reglonals the Sycamore Boys defeated a strong Archxbold team by a score of 63 to 50 In the fmals the boys were overpowered by a strong team from W11lsh1re by a score of 49 to 66 Th1s was a very good game and the score does not 1nd1cate just how close It was The student body and commumty are extremely proud of the1r basketball team wh1ch went as far LH tournament play as any team U1 the county has ever gone Th1s pr1de was evxdent by the fact that a great many people attended all the games and cheered them on to many v1c torles When a team IS one of the top exght left LH the state U1 tournament play and they have dxsplayed such fxne sportsmansh1p as these boys dxd throughout the tournaments loslng a game such as the W1llsh1re one doesnt lessen the commumty prlde 1n them 37 K, were off to the Regional at Toledo. After Christmas Paula Grummel went to Florida to attend school there for several months while her family was on va ation.
