Senior Prophecy A gypsy caravan passed through my town and I soon discovered a palm reader of the past. I asked her what had happened to my many classmates, since we parted at S. H. S. She looked into my palm, and as she studied it, she saw two secretaries sitting at adjoining desks. Who were they? Why none other than Jean Hannum and June Anderson. Some pair, huh? Just then the door slammed and she saw Genevieve McDermott come striding into the oflice. You might be interested in knowing that Genevieve is now a lawyer, and her husband is an undertaker. Next, she saw a large penthouse apartment in New York. She couldn't figure it out at first, until she spied the familiar figure of Phyllis Riedel sprawled out on one of the lavish couches. It seemed she was the owner of a large yachting club. As her vision drew near the water, she saw one of the yachts coming ashore with Arlene Solze serving as a wave. The captain of this ship, neatly dressed in his uniform, seemed to be Ronald Babcock. His duties are well managed. Just at this moment a main attraction came into view. No, it can't be, but it is! Betsy Caves was singing Foggy River . She is now a quite prominent opera star. As her thoughts drew near Marion, Ohio, a large hospital appeared. This must be some- thing new for she saw Jerry Moore and Edwin Karcher putting on the Hnishing touches. As usual Jerry was loafing and Edwin was doing the work. The nurses were going home from work, among whom we see Phyllis Hartschuh, now the headnurse. She seems to be doing a good job of it, as all the nurses are walking in formation. What's this? A woman chasing a half dozen kids up and down the streets. Who is this wo- man? Now it's clearing up. That woman is none other than Gertrude Miller and those kids are her own. She is just trying to catch them for their weekly bath. By the way, her husband is the city dog catcher. The next vision she has is that of a man surrounded by quite a group of children. The man is Craig Riedel. He and Bonnie have three children now, two boys and a girl. Shark is coaching the boys in basketball and Bonnie is coaching the girl in cheer- leading. Here, there is an interruption. What is happening? Delaware, Ohio comes into view. Gosh, it looks like a wedding ceremony! Why it's Betty Jo Hujford-excuse me, Mrs. Kisa- beth. This is Betty Jo's first marriage, so wish her luck! The Palm reader says she can see acres and acres of waving grain. What can this possibly mean? Oh, now I see, it is the farm of Eugene Grifjin and Homer Riedel. It seems they are joint owners of the Corn and More Corn farm. Down the road from them is another large farm. It looks like Harold Culver owns a dairy farm. Yes, there he comes with the milk buckets. He and June are now engaged to be married. Look out! Here comes a 1961 Cadillac. It looks familiar-it is! There is Janie Vollcmer, Maxine Gregory and Dolores Nusbaum. They are going out to their club in Cleveland, Ohio. They are the proprietors of a large chain of night clubs. Janie and Maxine are single yet, but Dolores has been married three times. They are the pin-ups of many Cleveland playboys. Gee! What do I smell? I followed my nose and found myself at the end of a line of men. At last, reaching my goal, I found Vera Houdeshell behind the counter selling famous Get Your Woman perfume. She seems to like her job very well. It couldn't be the men, Vera, or could it?? Bang! Crash! Who do I see but Larry Landis, checking in another wreck. Since leaving S. H. S. Larry has a job in Larry's Little Junk Yard . Here we are, way down at Miami, Florida, and we seeVDoral Ann Althouse. She is now head instructor at the Nurses' Training Field. She looks very intelligent in those horn rimmed glasses she is wearing. Having seen and heard from all the mem- bers of the graduating class of '51, I settle back in my easy chair, to dream of all the good old days back at S. H. S.
