TRAGEDY ON THE HILL Sycamore was upset by Indian Hill, a loss that knocked them out of first place, and dampened the spirits of a strong Aviator team. It was the night of October 3, and Head Coach Dave Hurst's Sycamore Aviators took the field at Indian Hill. The Aviators were in sole possession of first place in the East- ern Hills league, and they intended to stay there. In the first few minutes of the game, Indian Hill showed a bit of the usual, but by the time the game had ended, they were the most fired up team that Sycamore had seen in a while. Inju- ries and missed points after touchdowns caused the Sycamore defeat. It would have been 28-28 had Syca- more made the four points after touch- downs, but the Braves of Indian Hill won 28- 24. The Aviators lost their first game to Colerain, but came right back and won three straight games over Aiken, Mariemont, and Glen Este. That was when we traveled to the Hill. Sycamore then came back for homecoming, but lost to Madeira, who ended up league champs. A Saturday afternoon loss at muddy Milford, with a score of 6-0, just about broke the Aves apart. Then the Aves de- stroyed Deer Park and Loveland, to give hope for a sweet victory over Wyoming. It just wasn't Sycamore's night at Wyoming as the Cowboys and their star, Fred Jacobs, held Sycamore scoreless. It was a 5-5 season which proved the best team doesn't always win. Tim Roffel sinks in the mud at Milford. Herb Noble (46) drives for his man ogamst Deer Pork. The faces of the Sycamore bench show the work they've been through. 18
