cblazg As tiny tots entering school for the first time, we were very much troubled because we had to leave the safety and security of our homes. We were frightened, at first, by the many strangers who later proved themselves dear friends as teachers and class- mates. Those first 6 or 7 years passed by rapidly, and soon we found ourselves anxiously looking forward to the timewhen we would begin a new life as high school students. This new life promised us not only a more advanced type of formal education but also a chance to participate in the many extra-curricular activities which our school offers. It would be quite difficult to express the feelings of each member of our class during our four years here at Swoyerville High. To some it may have been a time of misery, trouble, andunhappiness, while to others it meant years of fun, work, and excitement. But whether the past years were filled with sweetness or sorrow, or both, the majority of us shall always remember the many happy incidents which occurred during this important phase of our lives. Who can forget that September of 1950 when we took the first step toward achieving our goal-SENIORS-and then graduation! As freshmen we were divided into two groups: commercial and academic. We were the first class to hold what is now the Annual Freshman Prom. Some of us were elected to represent the class in the Student Council, while others were chosen as members of the TATTLERS STAFF. Over anxious and athletically-minded boys were finally given the opportunity to try out for the many sports activities for which our school is so well known. The year flew by at a rapid pace and after a long summer vacation we returned as sophomores. The girls who had worked hard during our freshman year to become cheerleaders and majorettes had now attained their goal and were seen at the games cheering the boys on to victory. We were proud that the basketball and football teams, with the aid of their very capable coaches, won several titles and championships in these sports. Our goal was now coming nearer. As juniors we began to pave the road on which we would travel during our senior year. This chapter of our new life began with the election of class officers: President, Francis Fondo, Vice President, Thomas Gullag Secretary, Florence jakong Treasurer, William Kraftician. Boys and girls were admitted to various clubs, and we were the honored guests at the junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. Near the close of our junior year we chose the rings we would wear as a symbol of our promotion to the senior year and graduation. At last we were really in! The last step in receiving our diplomas had finally arrived, for now we had become seniors. We were swept into a whirl of activities including trips, dances and games. We were quite excited about our trip to Harrisburg and Gettysburg which was a very enjoyable experience. Our minstrel was a huge success due to the efforts of our very capable advisor, Miss Loretta Farris. At the junior-Senior Banquet and Prom we were given the opportunity to honor the junior class who would soon be taking up the responsibilities as the senior class of 1955. Our senior play was presented successfully as a result of the skillful direction of Mr. john Wallace. Now that we have reached our final goal and Class Night and Graduation are upon us, we, with tearful eyes, are happy to look back on those years which have brought to us this exaltation which we now feel. Our hearts are sad because friends must part as we enter the different fields of lifeg however, we are happy that we have attained our once sought goal-graduation. By ELEANOR PASTULA
