PACESETTER '84 SEARCHING . . . VOLUME VI tx Pacesetter 84 is dedicated to William Roeschlein, our principal and friend, who will retire this year. The halls and office will seem different without his presence as we continue searching to find ourselves. But for the moment we enjoy the memories of 1983-84 and remember some of the struggles of our search. SWITZERLAND COUNTY JR. SR. HIGH SCHOOL VEVAY, INDIANA SEARCH: N. Methodical attempt to find something We have at one time or another searched for a friend in a crowd or have searched and have not been certain for what it is we are looking. We as seniors are beginning the search for new challenges and avenues in our lives. Our search may take some of us to places about which we have only dreamt. Some of us will be searching longer for careers than others. The 1983-84 school year was a search- ing time in the lives of the students, faculty, and administration of SCHS. In our search we found friendship, guidance, au- thority, wisdom and foolishness which re- sulted in discipline. Sometimes the discipline was imposed on us, and other times it came from within. On January 13, 1984, the Senior class per- formed the comedy All Because of Agatha. The story was based on a witch named Agatha Forbes, (Jeanette Bacon), who haunted a house once a year. This particular year the house was inhabited by Greg Curlin and Jenny Smith, who with the help of a strange neighbor (Andrea Kappes), try to rid the house of her presence. This production was well received by the student body due to the crazy antics of the characters, especially Jeanette, the ghost. Andrea's performance with the lampshade and the romantic escapades of Jenny and Greg, Becky and David, and Kaulene and Charles were unforgetable. No one will forget Becky Martin throwing David Hall across the floor or his ap- pearance in his three piece suit. 22 THE JUNIOR CLASS Paw . . . Pam Watkins Maw . . . Staff Sublett Ceelie . . . THE SENIOR'S What am I suppose to do with it now? I Missy and Shane with the trophies they deserve. The 1984-84 Aurora Farmer's Fair King and Queen Candidates from Switzerland County were Missy Judy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Judy and Michael Shane Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Arm- strong. There were eight schools compet- ing for the title as Aurora Farmer's Fair King and Queen. The candidates were re- quired to answer a question and a inter- view with the judges. Although they did not win, the senior class thinks Shane and Missy did a good job anyway and would like to thank them for accepting the honor of representing our school. 30 CHOICE Carla answers her question carefully. VERSAILLES PUMPKIN SHOW The Versailles Pumpkin Show was held on September 24, 1983. Carla Armstrong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlysle Armstrong, was chosen by the senior class to represent Switzerland County High School in the Pumpkin Queen Contest. Out of eight girls from other schools who were competing in the contest, Carla was chosen as first runner up. Carla was required to model her evening gown and an- swer a question. The senior class would like to congratulate Carla on a job well done. Carla smiles for the camera. 31 32 u s H E R E T T E S Mary Voris, Lauren Ashby. Lisa Minch. They had a struggle for consistency in the 1983-84 season. There is much upcoming talent for the high school track team in a few years. The people on the team are hard workers and are willing to learn. With a lot of hard work and striving to improve themselves, the school should have an excellent cross country team in the future years. These people have the potential to be great. 64 JR. Facing each day With a new challenge. And looking back at how we stared As we sat and watched those Who had graduated before us. But now it's our turn. And now we have to learn. We have to part from the ones Who may be dear to our hearts. But they will always know We will never let go of the good times we shared. I'll see you again someday. But it will be in a different sort of way. Don't forget the fun we had And really be glad you graduated in 1984.
