They presented them to the student body that afternoon and to the general pub- lic that evening. VARSITY IN ACTION Coach Gene Demaree’s legions started the year off on the wrong foot, losing to arch-rival Madison, but then reeled off eight straight victories for a new school record, before losing to New Washington in the semifinals of the JCIT. Seniors Bucky Adams, Jim Farrar, and Reno May con- tributed consistency and outside shooting to the team ef- fort, Reno was also named to the All-O.R.V.C. team, fin- ishing second to Kelvin Comer of South Ripley in the bal- loting. After winning eight of its first nine games, the Pacers dropped nine of its last twelve, losing the final four games, including the first game of the sectional to Aurora. Leading scorers were Reno May and Junior Ed Sherman with 17.3 and 13.8 averages, respectively. Ed was also the leading rebounder, pulling down 13.1 caroms a game.
