That was the year Mrs Tonkay s home room put on that play un assembly where the students were the teachers R member the charge we got out of Agnes Nucoll when she took the part of Muss Sutter and Ida Mae Laney when she acted out Muss Coulter And that was the year the fellows among them Frank Welsh Bull Davues and Frank Begg went un for the crew cut effect so the same afternoon Ada D Elua Elsue Parr Nancy Hodder and some others came to school wuth theur haur up un pugtauls un retaluatuon Also un the same era were Gert Cohull Dorothy Gura and Mary Janosuk swoonung over the rack of bones or un plaun man s language Frank Sunatra Remember when some of the senuors trued to sell elevator passes to such unsuspectung souls as Jack Robertshaw and Rose mary Koroly9 And there were Barbara McCreanor Betty Frank, and Anna Duana castung luquucl pools of beauty un the durectuon of the vets who had come back to school to flnush theur educa tuon ujenny Santella wondered whuch educatuon'?'7 t And the tume when the spotlught of our sophomore lufe was centered on the Soph Hop? The nughtclub atmosphere was created by the sharp decoratuons devused by Chrustune Deluca Phul McCon nell Florence Mutchell and a number of others One of the crovvnung touches of that evenung was when Kenny Glew Jack McCloskey Guudo Maruanu and Jum McKunley 'the Four Ink spotst sang for us The uunuor year us the one that I certaunly remem er most That was the year Donna Srnuth twusted her ankle at Natuv uty rehearsal and was carrued out by Mr Douglas whule the other two angels Jean Baurd and Cathleen McLaun looked e vuously on' Also un the same year Chuck Wernz Jum Hughes and Fred Schmutt uouned our numbers Jo Dunn Paula Kane Peggy Kettles and Pat Orgull uouned the hugh steppung ranks of the maloret es Lous Jones was elected Queen to reugn over our Junuor Prom Ah the Junuor Prom that brungs up remunus censes' Pete Werts Gulda Catanzano and Bobby Steunhaus were so enthused about the udea of havung the Prom away from Swussvale at the Edgewood Communuty Club' The place through the help of Muss Tennant had been decorated wuth blue and gold streamers and bunches of balloons had been page ten suspended from the ceullng These at the close of the dance caused quute a but of commotuon but the result looks of sat usfactuon on the faces of the partucupants who had managed to get a balloon especually Don Wulkunson and Lefty Grutfln Not enough can be saud about our senuor year The year started off at a hot pace when Bo Abbott unter cepted a pass un the Braddock Hugh game and ran forty yards to make a sensatuonal wunnung touchdown Then came Duck Groat carvung out 34 pounts by humself un the Penn Hugh game thereby placung hum among the Swussvale Hugh basketball great In our assemblues Lous Bowen Johnny Colluns and Georganne DeVoe dusplayed theur actung abulutues whuch had been developed by the newly organuzed drama department whule Iome Lundsay Vurgunua Johnson and Ed Wusnuewsku spoke well for the speech department un theur Red Feather Campaugn Then came the exchange of name cards and senuor class pac tures Wuth the exchanges Guyton Squullante came up wuth the udea of how luttle of the senuor year was left how fast the days were whuzzung by toward the graduatuon turnstule Bll Swanston Anne Seder and Janet Du kson started bemoanung the fact but to the Moore twuns they couldnt go fast enough And so passed our senuor year a successuon of fast mov ung memory flllung uncuderuts the Kud Party Baccalaureate Commencementlll One after another they came and when they had left our hugh school Iufe was at an end' But we can t say that ut us at an end for ut us but the startung pount for a wealth of tomorrows whuch all have theur source stemmung from our hugh school lufe It us up to us to see that these sources prove to be fruutful ones Marue Homusak Duscussung a senuor class banquet are Jum McKunIey vuce presudent Frankue Begg presudent and Erma Carr treas urer whule Iome Lundsay secretary was off to town 7 . . .
